4th Annual Girls' Trip

Well, sadly, our 4th annual girls' trip came and went. Michelle and I look forward to our Girls' Trips every year! Our first year, we went to Eureka Springs. Year two, was a collaborative trip with my mom and her best friend to Ft. Myers, Florida. And year three was a trip to Dallas. I know we didn't move far from Dallas in going to Ft. Worth, but last year we took Finley and were busy with wedding stuff. This year, we wanted to stay a little closer to home b/c it was Michelle's first vacation away from little Finley...and I was needing to save money! I had visited some friends in Ft. Worth while I was in college and remember it being really fun....so I thought it was a great idea. Then I was telling my mom about it and she said we should take the train!!!! The TRAIN???? I didn't even know there was a train that would take passengers!!!! So, Michelle and I looked into it. It was just as much as gas would have been for the truck, plus....we didn't have to figure out where we were going once in Ft. Worth and we didn't have to pay for parking AND we could just relax on the way there. It was GREAT! We would totally do it again...and I know Ken wants to go now too! So....our train was wonderful!!!! Coffee, movie watching and lots of girl talk! :)We got to Ft. Worth and bought tickets for our ride home. We checked into the Omni Hotel (fabulous!!!!) and then went to eat some lunch! We were starving!!!! This lunch was by far our worst meal...even though it wasn't THAT bad. We walked around a little to do some site-seeing and then headed back to the hotel! We laid out a little and then got ready for dinner. We ate at The Cast Iron restaurant in our hotel. It was pretty great! The Chipotle Chicken Chowder was YUM! We were looking pretty great in our dresses and went to the Scat Jazz lounge to see Ricky Derek! It was really fun and a great concertSaturday, we slept in and got up and dressed and headed out to lunch at the REATA!!!! FABULOUS!!!!!!! Michelle had some Cream of Jalapeno Soup and a yummy tamale...and I had the most FABULOUS Stacked Enchiladas!!!!! It was huge and so yummy and I brought the rest home to Ken!!!!!! SO GOOD!!!!! Anyway----then Michelle and I shared a Blackberry Tamale Bread Pudding with Dulce de Leche ice cream!!!!!! AAAAAWWWWWW (insert singing voice)!!!!! After lunch, we hit a couple stores and bought gifts for families and went back to the hotel to drop everything off....and hit the pool again!!!! :) Then headed out to see "Sex and the City 2"!!!! Michelle and I saw the first one together when it first came out, so we had to see this one too! LOVED IT!!! We had heard mixed reviews on it so we didn't know what to expect. My review??? Fabulous clothes and fashion! Its different to see them married and not dating anymore, but it was still good and I would see it again. Call me crazy, but I always learn something about myself when I'm watching the TV show or the movies. What can I say...they speak to me! After the movie, we went back to the hotel (we did a lot of walking this day!!) to get cleaned up and ready for the night out. We had dinner at a restaurant called 8.0. We chose it b/c we were SUPER excited to see the band they were hosting out on their patio stage. We got there a little late b/c the patio was PACKED!!! We ate inside and then headed back out to see "Live 80 Band". LOVE THEM!!!!! Michelle and I just love 80's music and they filled our little 80's hearts!!!! :) It was a fun night out....I just wish I had been closer to the stage so I could DANCE!Sunday, we slept in (again) and got dressed to beat the church crowd to brunch. :)After walking around for awhile, we came back to the hotel and went to the pool one last time. We got dressed and packed our bags. We walked back into town to have an late lunch at the last place we were wanting to try....The Flying Saucer. We had fabulous pizza!!!! And we got huge, soft pretzels "to-go"....these would be our dinner on the train. They had fabulous dipping sauces!!!! On our way back to the hotel we stopped for a picture... and then took Molly the Trolley back. I think it was only the 2nd time we took the free trolley. Its a great service, but we enjoyed all the walking. We went back to our hotel to grab all of our stuff before we headed to the train. We were super excited to get a late check-out at 5PM!!!!! :)Good-bye Ft. Worth!!!! Our view from the train....about to leave Ft. Worth. Our hotel is the tall "blue" one! It was loverly! :)Home again!

I'm so glad you cropped me out of the picture at the Jazz lounge! And I was feeling all tan until I saw these pictures and standing next to you, I look so pale! =) Can't wait for next year's trip! La, la!
