30DT-Day 5

November 5, 2012 -

my husband-I'm thankful my husband supports my time to mentor single women. There are times I have girls come to the house and KP will retreat to the loft to study. Not b/c he doesn't want to be around us (b/c honestly, he can hold his own in a room full of women), but b/c he knows its important for these women to have my complete attention for us to be able to talk about girl stuff without them feeling weird with him in the room. I love that he sees the importance of encouraging them, building them up in the Lord and letting them have a place to feel "at home." Even though he's not in the room, he is still a part of this ministry that God so graciously allows me to have.

my family-I'm thankful for inside jokes that carry from childhood to adulthood. My parents were traveling in TX today. Anytime any of us travel in TX, as soon as we cross the border we all get texts about how the air is all of the sudden just cleaner and smells so good in Texas! As they were going through the small town of Munday, I get a text telling me they were there. I think this is the first day in my life that someone in our family went through the town of Munday ON a Monday. Usually, we tease each other by saying something like, "NO! Its not Monday...its Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday." :) Its goofy and silly, but I love that we still have things we have made "tradition" in my family.

my friends-Today, I am thankful for mentoring. I was able to have lunch with my friend, Lorinda, who years ago I asked if she would mentor me. That mentorship turned from something I needed into a friendship that I am so blessed by. I love that we can meet and share life and enjoy each other and laugh! She is such an encourager and I love her! Also, tonight, I met with one of the single girls that I mentor. I love her and love being able to listen to her struggles and successes and share my experiences too. I'm so thankful that God calls us to learn from each other and to be there for each other. Its truly one of my favorite things....doing life with one another.
