Let's Talk Wedding: Seating of Our Mom's

My precious friend, Jamie, sang the most beautiful song, "At the Foot of the Cross". I love this song and I am so blessed that Jamie was able to be at my wedding and sing for us. The thing is, Jamie and I have been friends since Kindergarten! She has been such a blessing in my life and also in my family. We love her as our own...even though she's our "ministry". :) We will forever remember "Mr. Jones", "Flisky", and when we found out the REAL reason we weren't in the same 3rd grade class (MOM!!!!!!)! She gave me a precious gift! And what an incredible journey the two of us have been on...and 25 years later, we're still friends. I love that she sang while my mom walked the aisle! Thanks, Jamie!

At the Foot of the Cross
by Kathryn Scott

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart
Yes You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death You bore for me

And You've won my heart
Yes You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross And You've won my heart
Yes You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

Once Jamie was finished singing and our moms were seated, my sister-in-law, Aimee, read a passage from Galatians. This gave time for Jamie to be seated and for the pianist to get ready for the bridal party to enter. Aimee graciously helped me pick the verses that she and Kim read. I was at the end of my creative-thinking and was just having the hardest time coming up with what I wanted to have read. She sent me three and I used two of them. Aimee has blessed our family for the last 12 years (from when they got married in 1997 to our wedding in 2009).
Galatians 5:22-25 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

I love all of your wedding posts. It makes me feel like I was there, which I really wish we could've been there!
