Let's Talk Wedding: The Dress, Part 1

When I started looking for my dress, I had NO idea what I wanted. I had a lot of ideas, but I didn't know what was going to look good on me. I have always heard that I should try on EVERYTHING...even if I didn't think it was cute: Wedding Dresses Always Look Different On You! So I just started pulling pictures of anything and everything I wanted to try on. I didn't get to try on every style, but I could tell immediately what was going to look good on my body. I really thought I was going to have to go with an A-Line dress since I am curvy....but I was wrong. :)

In this first post, I am just going to post pictures of dresses that I fell in love with and wanted to try on. I have to say being in Oklahoma was hard. I learned that designer dresses are hard to find here b/c they think brides in OK won't want a trendy/stylish/coutour wedding dress. I was disappointed. I didn't have time to travel to shop in another state b/c the wedding was less than 6 months away...and sometimes it takes that long to get the dress in from the warehouse. My dream would have been to go to Kleinfeld's in NYC, where they shoot "Say Yes To The Dress"!!!! I also wanted to spend less than $1000.00 on my dress and veil, so Kleinfeld's was OUT! ;) You will notice that some of these are VERY trendy!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the trendy dresses, but I wanted something that was classic. Somthing I would look back at when I have kids and still just love my dress. I also don't care too much for beading, so you won't see much of that. And, Ken really liked the more simple dresses. He thought some of them had "too much going on". However, if I could have had TWO dresses...I totally would have gotten something that would have looked ridiculous to me 10 years from now.

And, please, forgive me for the horrible quality of the pictures...I actually took pictures of the magazine pages b/c I couldn't find many of them online. Here we go...

My absolute FAVORITES: This was my FIRST love!!! I wanted this dress so badly!!! This dress was a runway style and they never sent it to Oklahoma b/c they figured brides wouldn't want it. I tried on a similar style...but it just wasn't the same and I kept looking. :( I'm still in love with it!

After I bought my dress, this was my dress envy! I love it and wished I could have tried it on...but I still loved my dress. I just love the big flowers and the "poof" at the bottom. :) I firmly believe that Ken liked my dress a lot more than he would have liked this one, but I still LOVE it!

So that's it...there were a lot of ideas!!!! It didn't take me long to figure out what I liked the most though. Stay tuned for dress shopping!!!

So fun! I love the 5th one down. I think a ginormous cinderella skirt would be so much fun! Oooh and any of the solid lace ones are classy. Glad you enjoyed the process so much. Enjoying your posts sweet friend!
