This was the first dress I tried on. I cried. I was so excited that I was finally getting to try on dresses and that I was getting married. :) It was priceless! I couldn't believe it was my turn.
And here is the dress from the designer's website. It was one size too small at the dress shop...and I didn't like it as much when I saw what it was actually supposed to look like. My favorite things about this dress are that its fitted and the train bubbled under.
I will do a post on my most favorite book (which was recommended by me sweet friend Melissa) at some point....but the one thing I remember it saying was to be very careful if you want to buy the first dress you try on. It talked about how brides get so caught up in the moment and most brides cry with the first dress they try and assume that its the one. Or they have a connection with it b/c it is the first wedding dress they put on. This dress was something like $1200 without the veil!!!! My mom LOVED it as much as I did and she was already going to bat for me with my dad. I told them both "no". I wasn't going to spend that much...and I already had a plan. My plan was to try on as many dresses as I could to figure out what the best fit was....and take my choice to Moe (who you will meet later). He's this amazing man in OKC that can make a dress just by looking at the picture. He's beyond FANTASTIC!!!!! He can custom make a designer look-alike. My favorite thing is that I was finding details I liked about a lot of dresses and I knew he could put them all together. Ok...enough about Moe for now. Back to dress shopping!
The dress above was just one of the 4-5 that I tried on. They were all beautiful and I love the details on Kenneth Pool!!! I wish we could have gotten more pictures. I was really surprised when I tried them on b/c I truly thought I would like the A-Line style on me....and I didn't! I was kind of sad that I didn't like the more traditional "ballroom" style of dress, and instead fell for the more fitted styles. Everytime I tried on the ballroom-style, I LOVED the front, but hated the side view! There was SO much material (you can see the back of the dress sticking out on the MY right side in the picture). I knew that on my wedding day I would feel "fat" with all that extra around my body. And, who wants to feel "fat" on their wedding day???? So, with as beautiful as they were...I kept looking. The two pictures below are my other two favorites I tried on at Meg Guess. The first one is the one I'm wearing above.

I do wish I had gotten a picture of the magnificent veil I tried on at Meg Guess. Its called a "bubble veil". I fell in love with it!!! If I hadn't have found one, I would have gone back to her for my veil. I would recommend Meg Guess to anyone!! She is amazing!!!! She custom makes dresses, hair pieces and jewelry. Seriously...fantastic! Here are all of us girls before we left Meg Guess!!!

The second place we went to was JJ Kelly. We weren't allowed to take pictures there at all!!! They are very strict and it was my least favorite place to go. They assign you an assistant that NEVER leaves you alone!!! I never got a chance to just be with my mom and discuss what I thought of the dress. And she kept trying these RIDICULOUS veils on me!!!! I just wanted to laugh out loud!!! I think it was frustrating b/c she didn't ask what I was looking for or what I wanted....she just tried things on me that she liked. The main reason we went to JJ Kelly was b/c they carry Vera Wang. Now when I say they carry Vera Wang, take that very lightly. They have a FEW Vera Wang dresses. I was very disappointed in their selection. I will say, that this is the place I learned that designers do not send a lot of their styles to Oklahoma. They think we Oklahoma girls don't do trendy or couture! Thats craziness!!!!! I did get to try on a Vera Wang that was SIMILAR to the one I'm so in love with...pictured below and at this post (second to the last dress).

The dress I tried on that was SIMILAR to the one above was ok....but it was at least one season old, which made it a little different from what I was looking for (please don't think that I am THAT high-maintainance that I would need the current season to wear at my wedding). The "ruffles"/layers were much thinner, the material was different and it just didn't have the same shape...and didn't have the FLOWER!!!! Everyone liked it, but I wasn't sold, so I decided to keep looking.
From there, Michelle picked up Miss Finley from the babysitter and we were off to P.F. Changs for a nice dinner before we all headed home! It was a fun day!!!

I have to say that I am so thankful that I didn't find my dress that day b/c then the dress shopping would have been over. I wanted to try on dresses up until the day of my wedding!!! They are so beautiful and I definitely did not want to rush the process!!!!
