Some relationships come in different "packages". One of my sweetest relationships is with John. He lives in Tanzania. I've been sponsoring John for through Compassion for about 4 years.
He was 6 years old when I first met him and we've been writing ever since. I love getting his letters. Especially because attached to every letter are pictures that he drew. He is so sweet! I get to see his school report card, but most of all I love that he tells me what he is learning about Jesus!
Compassion is such an incredible ministry! I love their structure and that they pair kids with people who will love them. Its such a blessing to be a part of John's life.
God gives us many ways to have relationships with others. People all over the world. Its important to invest in others' lives. Relationships are the only things that are important. Not money, not things, no how far you get ahead at work. Relationships. I encourage you to step out and make a difference in a life you don't see every day.

Absolutely what is eternal! I wanted to tell you a way to give that gift for the kids. I am not sure how you can do it, but our Pastor's wife said her kids sent her and Ted a picture of them in the middle of tons of school supplies they sent to Haiti in honor of them for Christmas. They are so mission minded and I thought it might be neat for you to give the kids a picture of John and what you did in honor of them for him at Christmas. If you still plan to do that...was just passing on what they did.
