What's Your Priority?

Where is your relationship with the Lord right now? Is it priority? Or is it taking a back seat to other things in your life?

In my quiet time this week, I'm studying idols. I'm going through Priscilla Shirer's "Can We Talk?". She teaches you how to take a verse or passage and break it down on your own. Sometimes we just don't have an hour to sit in the Word. Life just doesn't allow it in certain stages. Here is a basic breakdown of how to do this:

1. Read your verse or passage.
2. "Pore and Paraphrase" - In your own words, paraphrase what you read.
3. "Pull Out" - write down the the key things you learn from the passage.
4. "Pose" - write questions for yourself.
5. "Plan and Pin" - make a plan to apply the scripture to your life and set a date too.

Week three has been dealing with priorities in life and making sure God is 1st. I just wanted to share what I've been reading.

Deuteronomy 4:16-19
"Do not corrupt yourselves by making an idol in any form-whether of a man or a woman, an animal on the ground, a bird in the sky, a small animal that scurries along the ground, or a fish in the deepest sea. And when you look up into the sky and see the sun, moon, and stars-all the forces of heaven-don't be seduced into worshipping them. The Lord your God gave them to all the peoples of the earth."

Paraphrase - Do not sin or do not become evil by making an idol for yourself of ANY KIND. Not any human (man or woman), not any kind of creature of the earth, not in the sky or on the earth. NOTHING. God, Himself, created every thing on this earth and gave it to us.

Pull Out - Idols can be anything. Each person can create their own. Anything you would make an idol was CREATED by God!!!! You would be worshipping another created thing.

Pose - Why would you worship the created and not the Creator?
What do you think about most often?
Where are you giving most of your time?
Are you having a quiet time daily?
What do you do when you're at home?

Place and Pin - Actively put God first!!! Every day! Be intentional about where your time and thoughts are going. Make a "schedule" to see where your time is going and then re-prioritize accordingly.

"Your god is what you seek. Its what you love, trust in, worship, serve, and allow to control you."

So, where is your relationship with the Lord right now? What are you putting above Him? Maybe its time to re-prioritize and start giving Him the best of you.
