30 Days of Thankfulness, Day 8

November 8, 2010 - Today, I'm thankful that Lexis is home. Last week, we started seeing a mass on her Lexis' face getting bigger. She's had this little growth for about a year, but its stayed the same size until this last week. After a few days of it not getting better, Ken decided it was time for a trip to the vet. Last Friday, Ken took her in and the visit wasn't all that great. The Dr. was VERY concerned that the growth was growing so much withing just the last few days. He wanted to do surgery immediately, but b/c she had eaten just a few hours earlier he didn't want to risk it. So, surgery was scheduled for today. We were a little concerned that she wouldn't make it out of surgery just b/c of her age. She'll be 13 in April. However, the Dr. also said her heart was great and she was in good health for her age....so, th surgery SHOULD go well. They decided to put a gas mask on her instead of putting her completely under just b/c of the risk. Well, the surgery went really, really well! They found a few more masses once inside, but the Dr. said it it all came out very easily. We aren't having it tested for cancer b/c of her age. Anyway---she did great and we got to bring her home today. She is happy....well, except for the "lamp shade" that's around her neck. :)

Ruger is also VERY, VERY excited to have his sister and playmate back...even though she won't be back to herself for a few days. He very much missed her while she was gone!!!
